Whether it is your first pregnancy or your fourth, this is a time of joy, expansion, adjustment, wonder, awe and the unknown. Pregnancy coaching can be an invaluable service to help you stay grounded, healthy and resilient. You will be empowered by evidenced-based research, soul exploration and the inherent knowingness of womanhood so you may wade comfortably through conflicting research, unsolicited opinions and familial expectations, finding a rhythm that is in alignment with you.
The whole point of woman-centered birth is the knowledge that a woman is the birth power source.
She may need, and deserve, help, but in essence, she always had, currently has, and will have the power.
Birth is a sacred event that is guided by the heartbeat of mother and baby. For every woman, and every baby, how the event unfolds is magically unknown. I focus on creating a space open to the process, offering non-judgmental, emotional support and physical comfort measures, trusting the inherent ability of a woman to birth when empowered with information, resources and a voice.
In the days of yesterday, the village would come together to cocoon mother and child in love, knowledge, compassion and nourishment. In our modern world both mama and baby are birthed into a very different world. Filled with sweetness and unmeasurable love, postpartum can also be one of the most challenging times in a woman's life. Whether you are two days postpartum or two years, let me recreate the proverbial village and bring the soothing salve of time, nourishment, sleep and judgement-free support.
In many ways, I have been a doula my whole life, seamlessly falling into the role of supporter, advocate and encourager. However, it wasn’t until I was pregnant with my second child, that I recognized this as a professional calling. No longer so consumed with the newness of my experience, I had the opportunity to reflect on the experience as a whole. I became passionately excited about the role of birth as an empowerment tool and decided to attend a birth doula training shortly after my own birth. Fast-forward a few years and my family expanded yet again. As I struggled to juggle four children (three biological and a love child) it became abundantly clear to me that empowerment, support and community is needed long after the birth of the babe, propelling me to broaden my scope to include post-partum doula work, as well. Whether supporting you through decisions that are exclusively your own to make, holding space for rest, nourishing the body with food and movement, or decluttering the house so the mind can too, I delight in helping families transition from birth to the next stages, newborn through adult.
I am a certified teacher of somatic -based, self-care skills through Reconnect for Resilience, am trauma-informed and teach weekly Baby & Me Yoga classes, in addition to other styles of yoga.
I look forward to supporting you and your family in any and all stages of your birth as a mother. Please contact me, firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more about my scope, services and availability.
