"What do I DO?" Racial de Escalation Techniques

In this 3-hour, power packed, workshop we explore techniques of what to do when confronted with real life situations that call for us to take action as good samaritans.

We will explore ingrained racism, the different types of racism, how to handle situations where someone is being attacked verbally or physically due to racism, sexism, or because of their faith.

Get ready to move through, unpack, and clear the energy so you can hold space in powerful ways for those who's voices have been silenced.

Join us in becoming fearless, armed with tools of action, empowering you to let go of the narrative, "what do I do" and replace it with, "I'm doing something to be a positive interruption/disruption in situations involving racism in my community and beyond!"

Class $5-$15

Skill in Action: Yoga + Social Justice, Guest Teacher, Michelle Cassandra Johnson

Skill in Action is a workshop designed to explore patterns of oppression, power and privilege, and to respond to the current cultural challenges through practices of self-study, contemplation and collective action.

It can be difficult to remain centered amidst the chaos of a culture that continues to divide and conquer. Contemplative practices, including meditation and yoga, allow us to work with sensation, toxic thought patterns, cultural conditioning, overwhelm, and anxiety through mindfulness and thoughtful care. In this workshop, we will deepen our understanding of the principles of justice and yoga; the workings of white supremacy, power and privilege, oppression and identity, suffering and liberation, and loving kindness. We will discuss spiritual bypassing and how to lean into discomfort with an open heart, unconstricted, and how to create inclusive and liberatory spaces on and off the mat. We will practice asana (postures), meditation, mindfulness, pranayama (breathing), chanting and mantra work to sharpen our goals and visions for our work to change the world. We will create concrete plans to put our goals into action.

Sliding scale, $75, $100 or $125.  Reserve your space.
